Major life changes led Marty on a journey to Avila University where she completed her Bachelors degree in Social Work. Her path continued to the University of Kansas mwhere she earned her Masters degree in Social Work and became a therapist in Johnson County in the Overland Park and Leawood, Kansas area. Marty has been involved in the health field for many years and has a passion for helping others. Through painful life experiences and relationship difficulties Marty has overcome many challenges. Marty believes that with inner strength, hope and resiliency anything is possible. With the realization that life is not easy, she believes that happiness and serenity are within reach. A quote by Winston Churchill is her motto, no matter how difficult life may seem, “Never Never Never Give Up.”
Marty is a Licensed Master of Social Work in the state of Kansas. Marty’s private practice has evolved through a variety of settings. Marty trained at a domestic violence shelter, and an adoption agency. She had extensive training and experience for 2 years at MOCSA, The Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault. Marty co-facilitated a support group for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Her work included the rape crisis line, hospital support for rape victims as well as therapy for children and teens that were sexually abused.
